Seasonal Blanket Stitch Banner

Seasonal items for our home are my favorite. I like to make the background item in this case it is a banner and then switch the smaller seasonal items which in this case is the Shamrocks. Then I can use the banner all year.

Items needed:

Banner: Quilted natural batting cut into 12 pennants mine were 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches, spaced about 2 inches apart and sewn together with 1-2 packages of seam binding (depending on how long you want the ties at the end of the banner) and 12 medium clothes pins.

Shamrocks: Three different fabrics of your choice, green canvas or felt, fusible webbing, embroidery floss, needle and scissors.

Use any shamrock pattern to cut out shamrock. (Shamrock cookie cutter or any pattern you prefer). Make the cream cut shamrock slightly larger. The cream part of shamrock is made from natural batting.

Green burlap for the shamrock (traced pattern onto fusible web first, then ironed to the green burlap and cut out, then ironed to cream shamrock). I used green embroidery floss around the edge with a blanket stitch, attaching to the cream shamrock. Use buttons of your choice. Sew or glue on buttons.

I used jute and clothes pins to attach to burlap pennant. I zigzag stitched around each pennant to prevent fraying.
