Maraschino Cherry Slush

IMG_2606.JPG

We use to make this yummy slush when I was younger, made with bottled Hawaiian Punch Concentrate, which they don’t make anymore. This recipe comes pretty close to the same slush recipe I loved back when I was growing up.

Maraschino Cherry Slush

3 cups Water
1 1/2 cups Sugar

*23 ounces canned Pineapple Juice
*1 12 ounce can Orange Juice Concentrate, frozen
*1 10 ounce bottle Maraschino Cherries , stem less, blended In blender until smooth
*1 tablespoon Lemon Juice

* Lemon-Lime Soda or Club Soda

Makes 12-14 servings

In a sauce pan on medium heat add the water and sugar and heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. Then add the frozen orange juice. (Use large plastic freezer container or I used to medium-sized containers to freeze slush.). Pour the remaining ingredients into large bowl or the large plastic freezer container, stirring together the sugar-orange juice mixture, pineapple juice, lemon juice and blended maraschino cherries. Cover slush with plastic wrap and freeze slush. Stir the slush in 4 hours and freeze overnight or until frozen.

After freezing, break up the frozen slush. Fill each serving glass with slush and pour on lime-soda or club soda.

New Year’s Ball Drop

IMG_0948.JPG

We wanted to share some of the items we made for our New Year’s Party. We hope you will enjoy making the recipes and using these ideas at your next new year party.

New Year’s Ball Drop

**We Made 6 ball drops but you can make more as needed for your New Year Party.

Supplies needed:

*6 Silver Gum Balls, I used an Awl and a manual rotary craft hand drill to make the hole
*Gold Ribbon, I used 3 yards to cover 6 lollipop sticks 4 inches long
*Two Sided Tape
*6 Lollipop Sticks, 4 inches long
*Awl, or other sharp object
* Fiskars Manual Rotary Craft Hand Drill, not electric, I used this so the gum ball wouldn’t crack
*Cinnamon/Orange Rolls or a Cupcake, etc……., base of the ball drop

1. After making the hole in the gum ball, I wrapped the lollipop stick with the two sided tape at both ends of the lollipop stick.

2. I started with the end of the lollipop stick that would not have the gum ball and taped the end of the gold ribbon upward on the lollipop stick and started wrapping over it with the gold ribbon to make it secure, then continued wrapping to almost the top and secured with a small piece of tape and pushed that end into gum ball with the hole. Repeat for each new year ball drop.

3. Add to Cinnamon/Orange Roll or Cupcake or desired base of the ball drop.

4. Have a Happy New Year!
