Umbrella Witches
Supplies:
*Black Umbrella
*Black Material of your choice for skirt or one already made like a costume child’s skirt
*Purple Tulle or I found this little purple skirt at the dollar store
*Halloween Nylon Stockings/Tights
*Plastic Grocery Bags for stuffing stockings
*Black Material of your choice for Boots
*Jute for tying skirt to the ribs of the umbrella and shoes
Making Boots:
Sew two felt boot shapes together 1/4 inch seam allowance leaving the top of the boot open and turn right side out. After making witches boots stuff the heel and foot/toe up to the ankle and leave ankle open to insert stuffed stocking.
Witch Legs
First stuff the tights/Nylons with plastic grocery bags and then attach them by wrapping or tying the top of the tights/nylons to the ribs of the umbrella.
Skirt
If you decide to make skirt just a scrap piece of material will work. my piece of material was about 30 inches wide and 22 inches in length. Fold the material in half width wise and sew together open side making a tube. Fold down one of the ends and sew about a one inch casing to thread the jute through. The bottom of the skirt I cut in a jagged edge. I used jute in making the draw string in the skirt and to attach skirt to top ribs of the umbrella. I also used the Jute to tie the top of the boots to the stuffed stocking legs.
Hint: The handle of the umbrella goes down the center of the skirt or the tights/nylons.
Enjoy!
