Easy Snow Globes
The hardest part of making these snow globes in the Royal Icing and patience to wait for the Icing to dry after attaching the tree ornament or figure of choice. We used these snow globes for a kids table for center piece and a favor for them to take home.
Supplies needed:
*Plastic Snow Globe, found at Walmart
*Candy Sprinkles, white for snow or we chose Christmas red, white and green sprinkles/Non Pareil Sprinkles
*Royal Icing, (Has to be royal icing for it to dry hard.)
*Plastic ornament or figurine of choice or etc…
Note: Since you will be using a small amount of Royal Icing, I suggest making these when decorating a gingerbread house so that you can use the leftover icing for making these snow globes.
Instructions:
Add the icing to the small inner lid top and spread on icing (Making sure not to go to close to the edge of inner lid. See pictures.) Then add the ornament of choice, allow to dry overnight or up to 24 hours until icing is completely dry. Add sprinkles to the ball then add inner lid and then outer rim and you done!
Large Batch Royal Icing Recipe:
*3 Egg Whites, room temperature (Use pasteurized Egg Whites if you plan on letting kids decorate and make snow globes, because they may lick their fingers.)
*1/2 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
*5 cups Powdered Sugar
Instructions:
In a stand mixer with wire whip attachment add to the bowl the egg whites and cream of tartar and whip on medium high speed until frothy. Then add 1 cup at a time of the powdered sugar and whip until mixer makes stiff peaks about 5 minutes. Icing should be the consistency that when you cut a knife though the icing it doesn’t come back together.
Enjoy!
