Southern Bell

Southern Bell Is a yummy refreshing summer non-alcoholic drink/margarita and would be fun for any occasion.

I will be posting more drinks from our Non-Alcoholic Soda Bar Party we had for the graduates in our family. We had all different kinds of drinks and let everyone add the ingredients they wanted. We also made listed drink combinations on a framed chalkboard for those that wanted specific ingredient ideas. I really enjoyed all of these drinks and hope you will check-out all the drink combinations.

Southern Bell

Servings 8

Ingredients:

*1 liter Lemon Lime Soda, chilled
*1 (12 ounce) can Frozen Lemonade Concentrate
*2 (11.3 ounce) cans Peach or Mango Nectar or Syrup, chilled
*Powdered Sugar, optional, to taste for added sweetness
*1 bag Crushed Ice
*8 Maraschino Cherries, optional
*2 Fresh Lemons, sliced, optional
*8 Paper Umbrellas, optional

** Karo Syrup optional for dipping rim of the glasses
** Large Sugar Crystals or Sea Salt optional for dipping the rim of the glasses

Instructions:

These ingredients are added, basically to fit your taste. I like a like to fill an 8 ounce glass about 3/4 full of the lime soda, 1 tablespoon Lemonade concentrate, 3-4 tablespoons Mango/Peach Nectar, tablespoon powdered Sugar and stir until combined. Dip rim with sugar or salt, if desired and garnish with paper umbrella, maraschino cherry and slice of lemon.

For dipping glasses: Pour about 3-4 tablespoon of Karo syrup (spread around the plate) on a salad plate and place the rim/top of the glass in Karo syrup. Then on a separate salad plate add the sugar or salt crystals and dip the Karo syrup rim of the glass again in the sugar or salt crystals.

Dark Chocolate  Cake

Cream together:

*3/4 cup Butter, at room temperature
*2/3 cup Granulated Sugar
*2 large Eggs
*2/3 cup Brown Sugar, packed
*2 teaspoons Vanilla

Add:

*1 cup Buttermilk, I used powder Buttermilk reconstituted
*1/2 cup Sour Cream, at room temperature
*2 tablespoons Water

Sift the following and then add to the above wet ingredients:

*1 3/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
*1 cup Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Powder

*1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
*1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda

Mix in a stand mixer all the above ingredients until well combined.  (I used a 1/2 baking sheet lined with sprayed parchment paper) Fill baking sheet three fourths full. Bake the sheet cake in a pre-heated oven at 350*F. for 18-20 minutes. Cool completely before cutting round circles with cookie cutter.  This recipe can also make 24 cupcakes, but it will depend on how full you fill each cupcake cup/liner with the batter.
