The Harry Potter Birthday Party (Part 2)

Sooo… many pictures!  But I wanted to capture as many aspects of Jamie’s party.  I hope you enjoy part 2 of her Harry  Potter Birthday party.

See our Oreo Truffles  for making the snitch and we used the foil off the Rolos, 2 roll wrappers per snitch.  When making truffles use a teaspoon of Oreo mixture per snitch.

Chocolate Frogs

We used chocolate almond Bark to make some of the frogs.  We made these mostly for decoration.  If you want to eat them it is best to use a good dipping chocolate, melted and add to frog molds OR use standard package of good quality dark or milk chocolate chips and melted with one teaspoon shortening in a double boiler on low or microwave chocolate chips with shortening in 30 second intervals in the microwave  until melted.   Pour melted chocolate into frog molds of your choice.  We bought our molds at Kitchen Kneads.

Harry Potter Birthday Party (Part 1)

We finally gave Jamie a Harry Potter Birthday Party.  She loved it!  There are some great ideas for Harry Potter Parties out there on the Internet.  I’ve put links below pictures to where we found some of the ideas.

We hope some of these ideas inspire you to have a Harry Potter Party.

Hedwig Cake

We used a box of white cake mix, mixed as directed on package.  Then pour mixed batter into 2 extra-large Muffin pan and bake  (fill at least 4 of the extra-large muffin cups to make Hedwig and the sorting hat) and frosted  with pre-made white frosting and coat the owl with coconut, using Oreo pieces for eyes, beak and feet.

Butterbeer

*2 liters Cream Soda

*1-2 tablespoons Butter Extract

*1-2 teaspoons Rum Flavoring

Add the butter and rum extract to the 2 liters of cream soda.  Adding amount desired for flavor.

Cream Foam

*7 ounces Marshmallow Cream

*1 cup  Whipping Cream

*1 teaspoon Rum Flavoring

Add the above cream foam ingredients to a blender and whip until smooth.

*Butterscotch Syrup, topping for over cream foam.

Pour cream soda mixture to a mug of your choice 2/3-3/4 full and pour a small amount of cream foam.  Wait 10-15 seconds to foam, adding more if desired.  Top with butterscotch syrup.

Sorting Hat

Made with the same above  box cake mix batter from making the Hedwig cake.  Pour some of the above cake batter in a one six-inch round cake pan, greased and bake, for the rim of the hat cake.  And  for making the top of hat use 2  large baked cake muffins (Using the above cake batter)  for the top of the hat .   Shape cake muffins as desired for hat shape.  Color some white pre-made frosting with brown or black food paste and frost the layered cake pieces together making the  hat and frost the whole hat cake.
