I call my girls “my peeps” so when my daughter Jacque saw this she had to get me these wood pieces to paint.

Sand the edges and stain them with acrylic paint. I used umber brown for the base, the dip dot eyes and edges.

These are the colors of paint I used for the peeps; Chiffon in yellow, blue and pink.

I Cut 4 rag pieces and got them wet with water and squeeze as much of the water as you can get out of them. Then put a dab of paint on each rag in the appropriate color and rub on the peep.

You can find the wood pieces at Woodconnection You also can get the wood kit at Sugar and Spice.

These are easy and fun to make. I hope you like the project!

Spring Easter Banner

This spring banner is another seasonal addition to my previous St. Patrick’s banner. I will switch out the shamrocks for these flowers and birds.

I used the shape of of flower. You could use a cookie cutter shape and then the bird you may want to use this pattern I found here Lavendersbluedesign. You can use any cotton fabric you like, I used a textured muslin. For more information on fusible web instructions see my seasonal blanket stitch banner.

The reason for the avocado, is because I used avocado skins simmered in a pot of water for a couple of hours. You can find more instructions at Altering Thoughts. I put my fabric and soaked it until I got the color I liked.

Some other materials I used for flowers: fabrics; cream satin, tulle, and lace. I used a die cutter to cut out shapes of flowers but you could just pile these fabrics on top of each other. I used brads for the birds eyes and attaching the flower layers.

I used a pointed tool called an awl to poke a hole through the fabrics.
